Technology Reflection
So far in my life Technology has played a pretty big part. As I have gotten older it has become more significant in my life. In elementary school the use of computers was slowly becoming a popular thing. In my school starting in first grade I can remember going to computer class. As I progressed through elementary school the use of computers/smart boards came into bigger play in my school. The biggest thing I learned with technology in elementary school was probably how to type and run a computer. As I got into middle school we started getting assigned assignments that we could use things like power point for. This was exciting and new for me. Into high school we got laptops and many assignments we had were done using the computer. Now in college so many things for my classes are online. It kinda of blows my mind really. It is so incredibly handy and useful doing things online. It is also really convenient, if say I am writing a paper and need to do research I can do that right on my computer and never even have to go to a library. So in the future I see technology becoming a even bigger part of education. I want to be a special education teacher and I know a lot of sped teachers who use ipads in there classes. I want to as a teacher incorporate technology whenever I can, but I don't want technology to be everything we use. I think we are sometimes too dependent on it, so in the future as a teacher I want to make sure there is a even balance between technology and time with out it.

I agree with what you said about people being too dependent on technology, that is something that I hadn't thought about. I also think it is a good idea to balance out your time between regular class room work and using technology to facilitate it. I felt like as I got older I became more and more comfortable using the computer and finding new ways to use it in school as well.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you on many of the aspects of technology that you touched on in this blog. It is amazing how fast technology is progressing and how dependent we are on it as students at the collegiate level. I also agree that there needs to be a balance between the digital world and face-to-face interaction in the work place. I think that you being a special education educator makes this balance is even more critical considering many of your future students will have special needs. I know that I am more on the traditional or "old fashioned" side when it comes to using technology and I liked that you mentioned you "don't want technology to be everything we use."
